Where Posy is going
Updated 2026-07-10. Statuses change in the same commit as the work.

The Commons · a social feed for reaching across disagreement
v4 · the home is a public feed of crossings that found common ground + creations people make, plus the daily question. Witness and water what moves you.
- live
Create · text becomes art
v4 · type anything; it's painted in Posy's one house style (free FLUX via Cloudflare + Hugging Face, capped + cached) and posted to the Commons.
- live
A crossing · grow a disagreement into common ground
v4 · a public question; each take is text, painted; the gardener (AI referee, never takes a side) reads the words and names the crux + each side at its strongest; common ground grows a shared piece from both of you.
- live
Profiles + bridges built
v4 · your gallery, a generated avatar, a bio, and a reputation that counts bridges built (not followers). Public at /u/[handle].
- live
One artist's hand · the house style
v4 · every image is wrapped in one curated style so the whole app reads as made, not generated. Painterly, warm, botanical-adjacent, a thread from the flower era.
- live
Near-zero-touch moderation
v4 · a prompt guard, per-user + global generation caps, report → auto-hide at 3 flags, and an operator kill-switch. The console surfaces anything that needs a human.
- live
The garden gate · sign in first
v4.26 · the Commons stays open to wander, and everything else now asks for your name first: one email, no password, ten seconds. Being asked is beautiful too: a house-toned veil, drifting petals, and the door held open. (Replaces the earlier taste-then-gate: making art now needs a sign-in as well.)
- live
God-mode operator console
v4 · /admin: schema-driven data control, raw SQL, live caps + kill-switches, moderation, promote operators. Self-updating as the schema grows.
- live
Guided tour + how-it-works + why-we-made-this
v4.1, reborn in v4.24, the welcome walk: ten panels through one day in the garden, the light evolving from dawn to night to sunrise behind you, petals drifting in each panel's colour, every feature shown as a living vignette. It greets everyone once, and again whenever the walk itself grows.
- live
Installable app (PWA)
v4.2 · a full progressive web app: web manifest, service worker (offline-resilient, never stale), a botanical app-icon set, and an install prompt that appears intelligently from the second visit, snoozes on 'not now', and stops for good on install or 'don't show again'. Add Posy to the home screen, no app store.
- live
SEO + beautiful social sharing
v4.2 · per-page title, description, canonical and Open Graph + Twitter cards via one Seo component; a rebranded 1200x630 share image (crossings share their own generated posy); robots.txt; and a live sitemap.xml covering static pages plus public crossings and profiles, ready for Search Console.
- live
Passwordless sign-in (magic link + 6-digit key)
v4.3 · one shared email gate: enter your email, get a one-tap link and a 6-digit key. The link lands on /auth/confirm; the key works cross-device (or when a scanner burns the link). Sent from posy@thehonestmachine.com over the family's verified domain. Posy links back to The Honest Machine as a sibling.
- live
Cross-device sync · your work follows you
v4.3 · signing in links your device to an account; your identity (name, avatar, bio, bridges) and your work now show up on any device you sign in on. Each device keeps its own secret, so nothing about the anonymous experience changes until you choose to sign in.
- live
See, edit, and delete your own work
v4.4 · tap any piece in your profile to share, rename, or remove it. Delete a crossing you started, or pull back just your own take. A first-time piece is now stashed safely through sign-in so you never lose it when you publish.
- live
An irresistible share
v4.4 · sharing a crossing is an invitation: the receiver sees one side and a gardener holding the middle open, and the only way to answer is to come in. The message copy leans on that curiosity gap, the link preview asks 'where do you land?', and the whole thing pulls people in to respond.
- live
The feel · glassy bells + haptics everywhere
v4.5 · the shared sound engine from The Honest Machine family: glassy synthesized bells through a soft reverb, no files. A gentle tap under every button, and distinct moments for witnessing, watering, making art, adding a take, posting, and growing a posy. A small speaker toggle sits on every page (and in your profile); turning it on plays a rising chime and switches the sound on. Off by default, consent-first.
- live
Subtle haptics on both Android and iPhone
v4.6 · a soft haptic under every tap and on every meaningful moment, working on both Android (vibration) and iPhone (the iOS 17.4+ switch haptic, since iOS Safari has no vibration API). Kept deliberately gentle. On by default, with a Haptics toggle in your profile settings.
- live
A calm refresh in the nav
v4.6.1 · a refresh button lives in the bottom nav on phone and desktop. It re-pulls the current surface in place, no white flash, no scroll jump, with a single smooth turn of the icon and a soft chime + haptic. Data swaps under you the moment it lands.
- live
The in-app bell reaches everyone
v5.6 · web push (an outside provider) was retired so there is one calm channel: the bell in your home header. It needs no permission, works on every device, and never nags. What used to arrive as a phone notification now waits quietly for you in the bell. (Earlier, v4.7 to v4.20, we ran opt-in web push with a careful, earned-per-person delivery layer. It is gone; the bell was always the guaranteed channel and now it is the only one.)
- live
In-app activity bell
v4.8 · a bell in the home header with an unread dot and a tidy feed of what happened: someone added their side, your posy grew. Needs no permission and reaches every device, reads across all your devices, and opens straight to the crossing. As of v5.6 it is the one and only notification channel.
- live
Operator broadcasts that actually arrive
v4.11 to 4.12 · a message from the gardeners lands in every bell, no permission needed. (It once also rode web push for those who opted in; web push was retired in v5.6, so the bell carries it now.)
- live
Clear your bell
v4.12 · dismiss one notification with a tap or sweep the whole bell clean.

Art Houses · four ways Posy paints
v4.13 to 4.14, deepened in v4.25, choose the hand that paints your world: Watercolour, Ink & Wash, Stained Glass, or Dawn Gouache. Every surface follows now: cards, borders, buttons, shadows, all of it, on phone and on desktop. And changing house is a slow, beautiful evolution: the new world blooms out from your fingertip for a few seconds, with a ring of light and loose petals. v4.28 adds the theme dot: a small ring of your live palette that floats on every page, phone and desktop; tap it and the wardrobe opens right there, houses, your grown theme, and the door to growing more. v4.29 rebuilds the desktop room (everything truly centered beside the rail, sparse pages resting mid-screen) and softens the evolution into pure light: a golden breath washes the room, a luminous band rides the reveal, petals lift and fireflies rise.
- live
Living Light · the app breathes with the day
v4.14 · dawn, day, dusk and night each tint the paper and air. Changing theme blooms outward from your fingertip. An evolving world, honoured under reduced motion. v4.31: night deepens each house into its own shadow, never one shared blue, so the four houses stay unmistakably themselves after dark.
- live
Grow your own House
v4.15 · type a feeling; the gardener grows a full theme, palette and painting style, that redresses the whole app and paints your art. Wear it, keep a wardrobe, share it by link so friends can wear it too. Capped and kill-switchable like everything paid. v4.30: the theme you grew now stands beside the four houses in every picker, selected and painted in its own colours, so what paints your art is always visible. Delete the ones you grew with two taps; if you were wearing it, the room settles quietly back into Watercolour.
- live
The Bloom Moment + painterly reactions
v4.16 · when common ground grows, the posy unfurls from a bud of light and takes the screen once. Witness and water burst into tiny house-styled artworks under your thumb.
- live
Privacy dials on everything
v4.17 · every piece and crossing can be Commons, link-only, or just-you, chosen at post time, changeable forever from your profile. Share links are the capability: they open link-only work, never private.
- live
The What-If Garden
v4.18 · some tensions are not with someone else. Name the knot; the gardener hears both inner voices, whispers the real crux, walks each path gently (never advice, never an oracle), finds the ground they share, and a posy grows from it. Private by default, shareable only by link. Folded into Create as its "within me" side (v5.2); your what-ifs and share links all carried over.
- live
Collections + your signature motif
v4.21 · file your pieces into named collections that shape your profile into little galleries. And choose a signature motif (a paper crane, a silver thread, a ladybird): the garden tucks it somewhere small and quiet into everything you paint.
- live
The quiet voice, resting pieces, and gentle blocking
v4.22 · post a piece as a quiet voice (no name on it, never on your profile), let a piece rest quietly (nobody can react to it), and quietly hide a person: their work leaves your feed and they can no longer join your crossings. All enforced on the server, all reversible.
- live
The Gallery epoch: physics, trays, and one continuous space
Motion with real physics, one bottom-sheet system, paintings that glide into their pages, pull-to-refresh, and a first pruning so the art can breathe.
- live
The Folio: one painting per view
The Commons becomes a gallery page: full-bleed art, museum labels, reactions in the margin.
- live
The Desk: watching the machine paint
Creation becomes the hero moment, with the what-if garden folded in beside it.
- live
The Rooms: You simplified, the wardrobe everywhere, the living paper
Your page keeps identity and work; settings and the wardrobe each live one tray away (hold You anywhere to open the wardrobe). The room takes each painting's mood, over a whisper of paper grain.
- live
The Ritual: plant to see, wander, the Sunday posy
The daily question asks for your answer first; a wander mode and a weekly recap follow.
- building
Discovery · people + open crossings to join
Handles link to profiles today; a richer discover surface (open crossings to join, follow) is next.
- charted
AI image/text pre-screen + review queue
Move from keyword-guard + report to a real vision/text moderation pass before public, with a queue in the console.
- charted
Native wrap: App Store, home-screen widget, push
Capacitor wrap; a widget that surfaces the day's question or a crossing waiting on your take.
- charted
Type that grows with you + lighter thumbnails
Larger system text sizes flowing through the whole app, and gallery thumbnails that load lighter on slow connections.
- envisioned
Automated daily question
A gentle cadence of prompts the whole community crosses on, curated then automated.
- retired
Notification intelligence (folded away with web push)
v4.19 to 4.20, retired v5.6 · while we ran web push, the gardener decided per person before anything reached your phone: your own dials, quiet hours, a strict budget (one a day, four a week), a worthiness bar, and a circuit breaker that went quiet the moment you ignored two in a row. When web push was retired the whole earned-delivery layer went with it (the bell never needed gating). What stayed is the garden's own giving: a Dawn Posy painted at first light, or a gentle note of what grew this week, now landing in your bell.
